Ninecooks, owned by Rhode Island Monthly food writer and cookbook author Lydia Walshin, hosts several cooking groups in our log house kitchen in rural northwest Rhode Island. Each group has a distinct personality: some like spicy food, others prefer comfort food. Some want recipes, others want to improvise. There's even a family group for parents who cook with their kids. You'll meet them all!
I'll be sharing tales of who we are, what we're cooking, where we're shopping, and how we do what we do. Each group meets every 5-6 weeks. Beforehand I research recipes, create menus and shopping lists, organize timetables, source ingredients, and set the stage for our cooking adventures. It all comes together in my home kitchen, a 12-foot by 23-foot space you'll come to know and love.
Of course we hope you'll want to cook along with us. Put together your own group -- family, friends, neighbors, co-workers. Many of our menus are available on our web site: www.ninecooks.com.
Please share your own experiences with group cooking, family food traditions and memories. It's easy to leave comments, so let's start blogging!
Read your entire posting and enjoyed every word. Your Cooking with Julia group must have had a great time trying to duplicate those great recipes. Keep up the good work and we'll keep enjoying all your cooking groups even though we can only be in one.
